1962 AERMACCHI 250 ALA VERDE
Succession of Mr. X Type : 250 ALA VERDE Serial number: 222 168 Engine no. 222 168 French car registration document The factory founded in 1913 by Giulio MACCHI will manufacture aircraft for more than 30 years under the brand name AERONAUTICA MACCHI. In the aftermath of the Second World War it suffered the same fate as its rival AERO CAPRONI: it was banned from manufacturing anything related to armament. The two companies will then turn to a market that was expected to flourish: motorcycles. But if AERO-CAPRONI wasn't really going to shine in the history of motorcycling, AERMACCHI was a very different story. AERMACCHI used all the talent of its engineers to produce innovative motorcycles. Thus, in 1956, at the Milan Motor Show, a 175 cc, 4-stroke single-cylinder with a horizontal cylinder and resolutely futuristic styling appeared: the Chimera. This motorcycle, too advanced for its time, was not really as successful as expected. To save the furniture, "l'Inginiere" BIANCHI then stripped his Chimera to make two little sports racers: the Ala Rossa and its big sister in 250 cc, the Ala Verde. In 1959, the Ala Verde gave birth to the Ala d'Oro, a 250cc racing car that would soon be available in 350. Without really wanting to, BIANCHI had just given birth to a lineage that would win laurels for a whole decade on all the circuits in Europe and America. In France, Jacques ROCA opened the ball by winning the Sport category in Montlhéry in 1961. After that, there are many famous drivers who fought on Ala d'Oro: OFFENSTADT, SERRE, BELTOISE, BARBAROU or COSTEUX to name only the most famous. From 64 the podium is often a "one, two, three" for the Ala d'Oro. A letter in the file tells us that the owner bought this motorcycle from Mr Pierre Borie, the importer on September 8, 1977. We remind the buyers that the whole collection is made up of motorcycles that have remained static in the collector's private museum for several years.
