1954 CECCATO 75
Succession of Mr. X Type : 75 Monoalbero Serial number: 0191 Collector's French car registration document Same owner for 40 years The Ceccato brand is known today for its car wash gantries. The company, based near Vicenza, however, became involved in motorised two-wheelers after the war, particularly with two-stroke utility mopeds (including the Romeo with roller transmission on the tyre). With competition raging in the sector, Ceccato will, like many of its rivals, try to promote it through competition. At the time, as today, it was the best advertisement. In 1953, the presence in its catalogue of a rather sporty 200cc two-stroke engine made this commitment almost obligatory. Ceccato fulfilled this commitment with this small, fairly advanced single-cylinder engine, which won great success in national races. Born in 75 cc, this pretty engine set six world records on December 28, 1954, including the kilometer thrown at more than 134 km/h. Quickly declined in 100 and then 125 cc, this engine represents the most serious threat to the all-powerful Laverda. In 1956 a 75 Ceccato won its category in the famous race between Milan and Taranto, and another Ceccato won the Tour of Italy. Given the level of these events, the performance was impressive, but Ceccato never really had the industrial capacity to exploit these fine results. It is the crisis that is going to get the better of his efforts. Ceccato postponed his efforts on his main sector of activity before 1960, but he had the merit to start the engineer Taglioni, who quickly moved on to Mondial and then Ducati. We would like to thank Mr François-Marie Dumas for his help with the general description of the model. We remind buyers that the whole collection is made up of motorcycles that have remained static in the collector's private museum for several years. A restart is therefore necessary.
