c1934 SAROLEA 500 MONOTUBE
Succession of Mr. X Type : 500 monotube Engine no. C270103 Type 23, which was produced six ans during, is dead, long live type 24! And in fact, the old-style motorcycle with the accessories plated on the crankcases and the angular tank between the two top tubes of the frame, gives way to a "modern" machine with a saddle tank. Great Sport Although Sarolea officials still use 23U, the new version is not lacking in interest, quite the contrary. Elle opts for modern solutions that will make it a very popular motorcycle for sports enthusiasts. Culbuteurs enclosed in a watertight aluminium housing and stamped with the "S", a double flow oil pump embedded in the timing gearbox and a double tube cylinder head directly attached to the lower engine by four columns. Of course, the optimal elements of the defunct 23U sont taken over: closed cradle frame, front fork with central spring, large diameter brakes (200 mm). Ephemeral The new 24U, as well as its younger sister the 24S (with a single exhaust pipe), was only produced for two years, because a wind of novelty blew through the Saroléa company, forcing the high engine to tilt on the new motorcycles from 1931 onwards. This 24 U from 1929 and the 30R from the following year will be the last Saroléa with a separate oil tank. From these will be extrapolated the "Race" versions called 24R and 30C. Approximately 1500 unités de 24U auront were produced in two years. We would like to thank Mr. François-Marie Dumas for his help with the general description of the model. Buyers are reminded that the entire collection consists of motorcycles that have remained static in the collector's private museum for several years. A restart is therefore necessary.
