1983 Ferrari 308 GTB Quattrovalvole
Serial number 44149 Less than 750 units manufactured 35,000 km of origin French title It was with the success of the Dino 246 GT and GTS models that Enzo Ferrari was convinced of the importance of the market for less powerful but lighter rear-engined saloon cars than the 308 which was launched in 1975. The Maranello firm presented its 308 GTB at the Paris Motor Show in September 1975 and the car was a great success with visitors thanks to its design, the result of a clever mix between a Dino and a BB, the fruit of collaboration with Pininfarina. Driven by a V8 in the rear transverse position, fed initially by 4 Weber double-body carburettors, the 308 developed 240 horsepower and could reach 250 km/h. While Ferrari's position was to make it a light car thanks to a polyester shell on the first versions of the 308 (Vetroresina) until 1997, the second series of the saloon launched together with the Discovery version (GTS) was clad by a steel shell that increased the car's weight to 1,275 kg. Launched at the very beginning of the 1980s, the 308 GTBi received Bosch K-jectronic injection on its engines, which allowed the rearing-horse brand to continue to sell its models in the United States, adopting new laws against air pollution, as the injection reduced the number of CO2 particles emitted by the V8; however, this change in engine power caused it to lose 15 horsepower. To counter this power problem, Ferrari decided to add two extra valves per cylinder and create a Quattrovalvole version of the 308 that would be produced between 1982 and 1985 and regained its 240 horsepower and 260 nm of torque. The 308 is regarded as the launch model of Ferrari's range of rear-engined saloon cars which is still produced today following the commercial success of the F355, F430, F458 and F488. The 308 GTB Quattrovalvole that we offer you was delivered by Auto 2000 to Marcq en Baroeul in the North of France and is registered for the first time
