Set (5 pieces) of the King of Rome's trousseau: -a short-sleeved white batiste bra of the King of Rome, edged with embroidery at the neckline and cuffs. -two short-sleeved brassiere in fine white fabric. Red thread markings on the crown and the numbers 5 and 6. -two batiste cups. Red thread markings on the crown and on the numbers 6 and 10. B.E. Circa 1811. Provenance: Madame de Montesquiou, governess of the King of Rome, then descendant. According to a custom dating from the Ancien Régime, the persons attached to the Enfants de France, in this case the King of Rome, were given reformed linen.
