LEREBOURS, OPTICIAN OF THE EMPEROR and KING Small five-print lorgnette in golden brass. Body covered with tortoiseshell with decoration inlaid with a golden star seedling (small accident and some lacks). Engraved on the eyelet and the first print: "Lerebours Opten of the Emperor and King. Place du Pont-neuf in Paris" Long: 8.5 cm. Diam : 3.7 cm. A.B.E. First Empire period. Noël-Jean Lerebours (1762-1840) at the origin of a dynasty of famous opticians, settled in Neuilly-sur-Seine then place du Pont Neuf from 1793. Author in 1805 of: "Instructions on how to clean the lenses of glasses", he also manufactures mathematical and optical instruments of great precision. Creator of the eyeglasses used by Napoleon when he wanted to invade England. This telescope, kept in the Observatory Museum, earned him the title of "Optician to His Majesty the Emperor and King".
