JOB (1858-1931). Jacques Marie Gaston ONFROY de Bréville says, "The deer and the peasant: Bonaparte 1st Consul on the hunt". Drawing in ink and watercolour, signed. 44 x 34.5 cm. Under glass. Gilt frame. B.E. This drawing used for the book " Bonaparte " by Montorgueil and illustrated by JOB. It takes up a true anecdote about a consular hunt : A deer pursued by the First Consul's crew ravaged the workshop of a peasant who, thinking the lord was far away, shot the deer with a plague. He was grabbed by a valet and presented to Bonaparte, then First Consul: " - Did you see the deer? - Yes, I saw the deer. - Where did you see it? - I saw it here. It came into my barn. - And it spoiled your grain? - Yeah, he... . - And you killed him? - Yes, I killed him. - You did well. »
