EINSTEIN (Albert ). A partly autograph letter signed "Albert" (1/2 p. typed in-8 and 6 autograph lines), an autograph note signed "Albert Einstein" (5 words on a 35 x 80 mm denomination), an autograph apostille signed "Albert" (6 lines on a letter from his second wife Elsa Einstein, 2 pp. 3/4 in-8), and 2 autograph letters signed by Elsa Einstein. The whole, written in German, addressed to Kuno Kocherthaler. 1932-1934 and n.d. Each sheet with marginal binder holes affecting a few letters without hindering reading. An intimate correspondence in which Alfred Einstein discusses the fate of his son Eduard, who is in a mental asylum (n.d., on letterhead of the Hamburg-Amerika Linie shipping company), talks about his arrival in America ("in dieser exotischen Welt", Princeton, October 17, 1933), and gives his consent ("einverstanden", Princeton, May 9, 1934). - Elsa talks about travel, money, Albert Einstein's stay in Spa, etc. ("Einverstanden", Princeton, May 9, 1934). A distant cousin of Alfred Einstein, Kuno Kocherthaler was the director of a mining company in Spain and an art collector.
