Paris). FIRST EDITION. Rich illustration of 48 plates without text, some of them reproducing several documents or portraits. AUGUSTIN FILON, TUTOR TO THE IMPERIAL PRINCE. Brilliant agrégé de lettres and son of a renowned historian, Augustin Filon 1841-1916) was chosen by Victor Duruy in 1867 to take care of the academic education of the Imperial Prince, under the leadership of his governor, General Frossard. In July 1870, when the young Napoleon accompanied his father to the armies, Augustin Filon became a trusted secretary to the Empress and followed the imperial family to England where he now looked after the Prince alone, supporting him until 1875 in his studies at King's College London and the Military Academy of Woolwich. 26 ADDITIONAL PARTS: FILON (Augustin).
