BONAPARTE (Letizia). Letter in French signed... - Lot 11 - Osenat
BONAPARTE (Letizia). Letter in French signed in Italian "vostra aff[ezi]ona[ta] madre", addressed to one of her daughters. Paris, March 25, 1813. 3 pp. 1/2 in-8. Beautiful family letter from Madame Mère. "My dear daughter, your librarian has finally given me your letter of March 4. I was waiting for his return to answer it, but as I think it is taking too long, I do not want to delay any longer in giving you my news. I am very pleased with the provisions you express for wanting to do everything possible to restore your health, and I urge you to persist in this good resolution. I continue to be in good health. It is the same with your uncle [Cardinal Joseph Fesch]], and in general with those of the family who are in Paris. THE EMPEROR, EMPRESS AND KING OF ROME RETURNED FROM TRIANON THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY IN PERFECT HEALTH. THE QUEEN OF WESTPHALIA [Princess Catherine of Württemberg, wife of Jerome Bonaparte] IS IN MEUDON [castle placed at the disposal of Madame Mère] with all her retinue, and must take up residence there during her stay in France. I HAD THE PLEASURE TO WITHHHIP HER BEFORE YESTERDAY, she stopped on her way from Trianon to have dinner with me and then left for Meudon. During the short time we spent together, a good part of it was spent talking about you. I haven't heard from Louis [Bonaparte] since my last letter. I'll give him yours at the first opportunity. I will answer, as you wish, through your librarian to the last article of your letter. Farewell, my dear daughter, I sigh after the moment of receiving you restored and well, and I embrace you with all my heart... »
