Rare CARTONNIER in veneer wood and marquetry with rich ornamentation of gilded and chiselled bronzes with mascarons, scrolls and fillets, opening by six drawers covered with embossed leather, the bottom opening by a leaf. Stamp DURAND (Gervais Maximilien Eugène Durand, born in 1839) Second half of the 19th century Height : 146 cm , Width : 94 cm , Depth : 37 cm Note : The Durand family, supplier of crown furniture under the monarchy from July to the 19th century. Born in 1839, Gervais-Maximilien-Eugène Durand specializes in making copies of 18th century furniture. He was awarded a silver medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition. In 1900, he joins forces with his son under the name "Durand & Fils". The latter succeeded him in 1920.
