Quadrangular bases decorated with applied zephir heads and rocaille foliated clips forming scrolled legs. (Without irons). Regency style, 19th century Height : 41 cm - Width : 25 cm - Depth : 16 cm Note : This model of chenets was very fashionable among great amateurs throughout the 18th century. A copy with the same horses also appeared under No. 194 of the L.J. Gaignat sale, February 14-22, 1769 (illustrated by G. de Saint Aubin in his booklet): "A large and strong fireplace, with ornamentation representing horses, on a rich gilt bronze base". A pair of chenets with identical horses, and another with a comparable base are kept in the Rothschild collections at Waddesdon Manor under nos. 181 & 182. An identical pair was once part of the Delubac collection: Hôtel Drouot Sale, 16 March 1998, Maîtres Ribeyre & Baron, no. 37.
