An important gilt goblet from the Palais des Tuileries. In chiselled vermeil. Handles decorated with a satyr and a ram's head. Moving edge with winged decoration. Body decorated with a bull's head in a half round bump, bearing agricultural attributes (wheat sheaves, sickle, bunch of grapes) and garlands of leaves. Foot in fantasy marine creature chiselled in a round hump, on an oval base with plain sides. Hallmark of title 2 Paris 800 and big guarantee Paris (1819-1838). Gross weight : 2880 g. Ht: 27 cm. Width: 30 cm. B.E. Presumed provenance : Former collection of M. Georges Jean Louis Marie Huchet, Count de la Bédoyère (1853-1931). By family tradition, this cup was given by Emperor Napoleon III to Doctor Auguste Nélaton (1807-1873), professor of surgery, member of the Academy of Medicine and founder of the Surgical Society.
