Sèvres Suite of thirteen porcelain soup plates... - Lot 241 - Osenat
Sèvres Suite of thirteen porcelain soup plates decorated with a gold rosette in the center and on the wing with a frieze of foliage on a nankin background. Marked in red: M Imple de Sèvres 7, Empire period, 1807. D. 23.5 cm. Two plates with a restored glaze, one plate with a small glaze on the reverse. Provenance : These plates come from the service Fond Nankin, frieze amomum colored delivered on December 31, 1807 to M. de Cramayel, Master of Ceremonies Introducer of Ambassadors on the occasion of the marriage of Jerome Bonaparte, King of Westphalia with Princess Catherine of Wurtenberg (Arch. Sèvres, cité de la Céramique, Vbb2, f° 79 and Vy18, f° 29). This set did not include dessert plates but only 24 soup plates accompanied by 2 salad bowls, 4 butter dishes, 2 sauce boats and 14 cream pots. A soup plate from this set is reproduced in Napoleon I and Sèvres, l'art de la porcelaine au service de l'Empire, collective work under the direction of Camille Leprince, 2016, p. 269.
