Pair of patinated and gilded bronze candelabra representing winged victories supporting a wreath of forget-me-nots, ribboned daisies and a bouquet of six lights, the branches in the shape of a horn of plenty ending in scrolls. They rest on balls and a quadrangular base decorated with burning torches, ribboned crowns, lyre and swans in a decor of sconces. Rectangular base chiselled with lotus leaves after the model of Louis-Isidore Choiselat, (pierced for electricity) H: 78.5 cm Provenance: Collection Jean-Marc AGOTANI These torches were made according to the design of Charles Percier1, by Louis-Isidore Choiselat 2 in 1821, for the apartment of the Duchess of Berry at the Palais des Tuileries: "two square-footed candelabras, sconces and plain balls, winged figures in antique green [ ] bearing 12 lights, branches with foliage, all in gilded bronze".
