Georges MALISSARD (1877-1942) "Marshal Lyautey on horseback" Original plaster signed on the terrace " G.MALISSARD ". 41 x 12 x Ht 52 cm. On a wooden presentation terrace. A.B.E. (Accident at the tail, wears). A pair of spurs which belonged to Marshal Lyautet is attached. Biography: Malissard was destined, by his origins, to a career as an industrialist... but his passion for horseback riding, horses and sculpture in will decide otherwise. Noticed by the architect Constant, he is presented at Frémiet and became a sculptor, specializing in scenes equestrian. It was then a great success, both with the owners of horses he portrays, than the general public. Before the war, he made the portrait of several horses of William II. After the Armistice, the State commissioned him to paint a statue of the Marshals. winners: Foch, Pétain and Lyautey. Our project was probably a project for the statue equestrian from Lyautey to Casablanca. It was finally François Cogné who executed this one (at the French Consulate nowadays).
