B.E. 1st Empire period. History: Frédéric Faber (1782-1844). Son of the painter Jean Herman Faber, he trained with the painter Ommeganck, from whom Empress Josephine commissioned a painting. During the Empire, Faber settles in rue de la Madeleine, where he sells his oils on canvas, miniatures and white porcelain (note that our piece combines the last two specialities). During the Salon of 1815, his work seduced King William I of the Netherlands, for whom he became the porcelain painter. Faber's porcelain comes from the Mortelèque factory in Ixelles (Belgium).
