Pair of gilt bronze candleholders, the chiselled binets of water leaves, the tapered fluted shaft decorated with lion mittens and rushes ribbed at the bottom, they rest on a round base. Late 18th century (gilded wear) H: 22.5 cm These gilt bronze candleholders are inspired by models made in goldsmith's art. They are similar to a pair of candlesticks made by Charles Petit, kept at the Metropolitan museum in New York (48.187.245 ab and 246 ab).
