Second edition of the French translation by Jean-Baptiste-René Robinet (1735-1820), already published in 1779 under the title Le Favori de la fortune. The English original bears Irishman, or The Favourite of fortune. John Seally (1742-1795) had a career as a man of letters and clergyman that was rather dull in its two successive aspects. Absent from Quérard, who nevertheless quotes another novel by the same author. Precious copy in the arms of Queen Marie-Antoinette
