Portico-shaped pendant in turquin blue marble,... - Lot 177 - Osenat
Portico-shaped pendant in turquin blue marble, white marble and gilded bronze. The dial designed by Lepaute horloger du Roi rests on two columns decorated with garlands finished with claw feet. The animated base is decorated with a frieze of acanthus leaves in the centre. Between the columns, a small base surmounted by a lyre. The top of the upper part has acanthus leaf scrolls ending with a seed. Louis XVI period (missing) H: 47 cm l: 36 cm prof: 11 cm LEPAUTE King's watchmaker. This signature corresponds to the company that existed between Jean-André and Jean-Baptiste Lepaute in 1750, formally founded on 28 October 1758 and continued between J. M. Lepaute and his two nephews Pierre-Basile and Pierre-Henry. This signature is used until 1792.
