Chinese column head cap entirely made of brass. Round socket bearing on either side a large crescent decorated with sixteen bells, surmounted by a sphere adorned with six five-pointed stars, then a pavilion with a cut-out brim bearing fourteen bells on top. The pavilion carries four moving arms holding four bells. The whole is surmounted by a crescent and a five-pointed star. Turned wooden shaft painted green with a central leather-covered sleeve, brass socket. B.E. 1st Empire period. (accident to a branch of the large crescent). To be compared with the model listed at the Musée de l'Armée aux Invalides under n°4292. Reference : Willing Paul Napoleon and his soldiers, 1804-1809"", page 82. These Chinese hats were part of all the musics including that of the Imperial Guard.
