Oblong case in burr elm, with metal handle and mother-of-pearl lock plate. It contains: a- Ornaments of the Return of the Ashes: a small bee, a silver fringe, a gold braid. Accompanied by a handwritten note in pen "From the transfer to the Invalides 15 Dec. 1840". b- A flower onion maintained on the tomb of His Majesty by the inhabitants of St. Helena. In a handwritten paper with a pen. c- Two small pieces of paper of different colours from the room where Napoleon died. 3 x 4.5 cm and 4.5 x 3.2 cm. In a handwritten paper with a pen. d- Plants picked from Napoleon's tomb by the governor lieutenant general Nahuys. In handwritten paper. e- Earth taken from Napoleon's tomb by Mr. Nahuys. In handwritten paper. f- Weeping willow leaf. Length: 21.5 cm. Diam : 8 cm. Accompanied by a handwritten letter from Governor Lieutenant General Nahuys explaining the division of these objects. Biography: It is about Baron Huibert van NAHUYS van BURGST (1782-1858). He was an officer who served in Napoleon's army and then took part in the Battle of Waterloo on the side of William of Orange's troops. He served in the Dutch Indies and Borneo.
