VERY RARE MEETING: - 4 hairs gathered in a paper envelope bearing the autograph of Grand Marshal Henri-Gatien BERTRAND, the Emperor's faithful companion on St. Helena: "HAIR OF THE EMPEROR CUT AT THE ISLE OF STE-HELENE". Bertrand " - Remains of willow leaf and wood splinter fixed in a wooden box with a label on the lid bearing an autograph of Grand Marshal Henri-Gatien Bertrand: " To Mr. Eugène de Bassano. PIECE FROM THE EMPEROR'S COFFIN AND WILLOW FROM STE-HELENE'S TOMB. Bertrand". With, on the underside of the box, an autograph mention of Eugène de Bassano, son of the Minister Secretary of State then Minister of External Relations Hugues-Bernard Maret: "This box was sent to me by Marshal Bertrand 15 days before his death. Paris, 14 February 1844. E. de Bassano " - Remains of a willow leaf, a splinter of mortar and a splinter of wood, placed in three paper envelopes with handwritten captions, one of which is a general one: " A splinter " FROM THE EMPEROR'S CERCIL OPENED IN STE-HELENE, CEMENT THAT SEALED THE WALLS OF THE CELLAR, A SHEET OF WILLOW THAT COVERED THE TOMB, REPORTED BY MR MARCHAND.
