1963 JAGUAR TYPE E s1 cab 3,8L - Lot 123
1963 JAGUAR E-TYPE 3.8 ROADSTER French registration document Chassis no. 878878 • Delivered new in New York • Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate • Finished in its original Carmen Red colour • Non-matching-numbers 3.8-litre engine Unveiled in Geneva in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type combines Malcolm Sayer’s body design with the XK straight-six engine. The early series is powered by a 3.8-litre unit fed by three SU carburettors, and is distinguished by details including its patterned aluminium dashboard trim. Delivered new in New York, this roadster is accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate confirming its original Carmen Red colour. Its 3.8-litre engine is of the specification fitted to this version, but is not the unit installed when new: the car is therefore non-matching numbers. It has recently been serviced and has also had its wheel bearings replaced. In open form, the E-Type invites its next owner to rediscover outings in a 1960s British sports car, accompanied by the sound of its straight-six.
