1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Targa – Police Belge - Lot 118
1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Targa – Belgian Police Chassis: 9116619012 Engine Type 911/83 AT No. 6650306 • Extremely rare model with documented history • 2.7L Carrera engine with 210 hp • Recently restored • One of only 20 ever built This car is an exceptional rarity, as it is one of only 20 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Targa models with 210 hp, specially built in 1976 for the Belgian police. After using 911E Coupés, the police wanted an open-top car so they could communicate more easily with drivers they had stopped. At that time, with the Carrera 2.7 about to be replaced by the Carrera 3.0, Porsche offered the Belgian government a small series of Targas. As a result, the entire production run of 20 Carrera 2.7 Targas from 1976 was reserved for the Belgian police. Like all 911s produced that year, these models benefit from factory anti-corrosion protection, making them the only Carrera 2.7 Targas treated against corrosion from the factory. The car presented here, with a specific chassis number, belongs to this extraordinary series. It comes with a file of period documents tracing its history. After serving with the gendarmerie, it was sold at auction in April 1981. The purchase slip from the Brussels State Property Office states that it was then located at the Rolin barracks, where its first civilian owner took possession of it. It was immediately entrusted to the D'Ieteren garage for a major overhaul, including a standard engine replacement. Following the death of this first civilian owner, the car was sold to a Belgian collector, who undertook a complete restoration over several years. Its current owner acquired it a few years ago and has used it sparingly since then, taking great care of it, as evidenced by its technical inspection, passed on 7 October last year. This Carrera 2.7 Targa combines originality, historical rarity, open-top bodywork and RS mechanics, an ideal combination for any Porsche enthusiast.
