1962 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MKII BT7 - Lot 100
1962 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MKII BT7 • Chassis no. HBT7/19239 • French registration document Introduced in 1961, the Austin-Healey 3000 MK II succeeded the first 3000, incorporating several technical improvements. Its 2,912 cc inline six-cylinder engine, powered by three SU HD8 carburettors, developed around 132 horsepower. Recognisable by its flowing lines and sleek appearance, the 3000 MK II distinguished itself in competition, particularly on the roads of the RAC Rally, the Liège-Rome-Liège and the 12 Hours of Sebring, where its robustness and balance were appreciated. The example presented here is a BT7 version in a cream colour with a brown interior, an elegant and understated combination. The bodywork is in good overall condition; the soft top, tonneau cover and side screens are in place and fit well. The original bumpers, removed to lighten the line, are supplied with the vehicle. The interior retains its authentic appearance, with a uniform patina and functional equipment. The engine is pleasant to use and delivers the characteristic sound of a Healey six-cylinder. Discreet improvements have been made, including electronic ignition, a stainless steel exhaust system and an aluminium radiator installed in 2021 to optimise cooling. This Austin-Healey 3000 MK II BT7 embodies the spirit of the great British roadsters of the early 1960s, combining performance, style and driving pleasure.
