1970 TRIUMPH TRIDENT T150V - Lot 40
1970 TRIUMPH TRIDENT T150V No. T150VEJ42613 Collector's registration document • English three-cylinder icon • Prepared as a Slippery Sam replica • Matching numbers In the late 1960s, the British motorcycle industry was facing a technological onslaught from Japanese manufacturers. In response to this fierce competition, Triumph unveiled the Trident T150 in 1968, the first production motorcycle equipped with a three-cylinder in-line engine: a 750 cc with a unique sound and character, combining flexibility, torque and responsiveness. This model marked a turning point in the brand's history and embodied the daring spirit of an era when speed and style were inseparable. The T150V version, introduced shortly afterwards, benefited from welcome improvements, including the adoption of a 5-speed gearbox and various mechanical refinements. It was also the basis for the famous Slippery Sam racing prototype, multiple winner of the Tourist Trophy, which made the name ‘Trident’ legendary. The example offered here, dated 1970, is matching numbers and has been prepared by an English enthusiast as a replica of the legendary Slippery Sam, paying tribute to Triumph's glorious racing past. This configuration makes it a rare and evocative machine with devastating style and assertive character. Mechanically, it is equipped with an AMAL 626 R60 concentric MK1 carburettor, with recently replaced gaskets. The bike has been regularly serviced: oil change with Castrol Classic oil, adjustment of the brake light switch on the pedal, installation of a chrono fuel tap, an oil pressure gauge and a CTEK cable to maintain the battery. We recommend that future owners carry out the usual checks and maintenance due to the fact that these machines have been stored in the collector's museum.
