RARE AND UNIQUE CASSETTE NECESSAIRE DE PISTOLETS BY "NICOLAS NOËL BOUTET A VERSAILLES" FOR MERCURY FULMINATE PELLET PISTOLS, in varnished walnut, with blackened edges, with inlaid brass cartouche, engraved "NN BOUTET à Versailles", compartmentalized and sheathed inside in green felt, with compass and two-point lock. It contains: - A rare pair of luxury percussion pistols with mercury fulminate pellet system. Blued, marbled, damascus-finish, hair-rifled, fluted barrels; decorated in gold with a fillet at the muzzle and two fillets at the thunderbolts, with the inscriptions "BOUTET Versailles", "N°1" and "N°2", and "FR" below, with two fleurs-de-lis. Finely engraved eagle-head hammers. Breech tails marked in gold inlay "BOUTET", decorated and finely engraved, one with a great dane's head, the other with a tiger's head. Palms and friezes around the edges. Polished, glazed inner plates. Finger rest bridges engraved with dog heads. Urn-shaped bridge fronts. Trigger shanks with adjusting screws. Steel oval caps, engraved and case-hardened. Short-barreled, finely checkered walnut stocks, internally stamped N° "151". Under the barrels is gold-inlaid the N° "151". And accessories: Mallet, hammer, iron cleaning rods, tamping rods, rod with built-in dosette, chased iron oiler, case-hardened bullet mold, stamped N° "151", with key branch and jet cutter, bullet puller and rod, extremely rare 30-pellet gold fulminate dispenser with wooden handle, blond horn powder flask with gilded brass fittings and stopper, finely chased and amati. All in perfect condition and with all original parts. With key. T.B.E. Circa 1818-1820 Exceptional and unique cassette made by BOUTET, probably a presentation model, bearing the harquebusier's name on the lid and breech tails. Case dimensions: 45 x 29 cm. Length of pistols: 39.3 cm. Barrel length: 25 cm. Caliber: 12 mm. approx. Provenance: -Former Alain Serpette collection.
