OFFICER'S HELMET OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD DRAGOONS. Brass crest (remains of gilding). Crest decorated on the wings with small gadroons, and on the front with the 'Imperial Eagle under crown (small dent). Finely engraved umbrella. Decorated brass marmoset. Marmoset headpiece and short black horsehair mane. Panther skin headband. Cut and engraved scale chinstraps lined with black velvet (some dedicated). Gold passementerie chinstrap cords. Cut-out, line-decorated brass plumet holder (screw missing). Later scarlet plumeet. Inner leather and black silk cap (partly unstitched). A.B.E. Circa 1810. Note: The indentation in the front of the crest is where a fleur-de-lys motif must have been added during the Restoration. Provenance : - Hôtel Drouot (Neret Minet Tessier), November 3, 2011, lot 218, expert Christian Blondieau. - Jean Louis Noisiez Collection. Headband made from parts and fragments of a Felidae mammal of the species named African Panther or synonymously African Leopard ( Panthera pardus) I/A pre-convention. Specimen predates June 1, 1947 and complies with EC regulation 338/97 of 9/12/1996 art 2 . This specimen is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention (CITES) and in Appendix II of EC regulation 338/97 of 9/12/1996. A re-export certificate is required for export from the EU.
