Provenance: Hôtel Drouot (Lombrail-Teucquam-Massol), September 29, 1998, no. 147, expert Jean-Claude Dey. - Jean Louis Noisiez Collection History : This small necessary box is one of the pieces that formed part of the travel toiletry sets of the 1st Consul Bonaparte and His Majesty the Emperor Napoleon I. The number "8" engraved on the front of the box corresponds to the place reserved for it in the carriage's trunk or travel case, which were themselves made up of several elements assembled for travel and transport, and numbered for easy storage. The interest of our set lies in its precociousness, used by Napoleon as First Consul and then Emperor (with the addition of the imperial coat of arms at the time).
