NICE AND RARE PAIR OF OFFICER'S FLINTLOCK... - Lot 8 - Osenat
NICE AND RARE PAIR OF OFFICER'S FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS PISTOLS, BY "BOUTET A VERSAILLES", KNOWN AS "PISTOLETS ESPINGOLES". Strongly flared round barrels with thunderbolts, signed "Boutet Directeur Artiste" on the muzzles; and "Manufacture à Versailles" on the thunderbolts, hallmarked "JBC", "NB", "LG" and "NB" interlaced. Blued barrels decorated in gold with a garland of flowers at the mouths, a frieze of pearls at the halves and, at the thunders, hallmarks on a gold background in urns on pedestals enriched with foliage, crowned with laurel and garlands of flowers on an amatized background. Turntables signed "Manufacture à Versailles" and flat-bodied swan-neck dogs. Oval basins with sparkle. Walnut screws engraved with foliage (half of one of the screw heads is missing). Plain, glazed polished cylinder heads. Plain, cut steel fittings, typical of Nicolas Boutet at the Manufacture de Versailles. Finely squared and carved walnut crossbars. Flat-bottomed oval knobs. Wooden chopsticks with horn tips and steel and brass pastilles. B.E. Circa An X-An XII (circa 1802-1804). Original blue and gold. Provenance : - Jean Louis Noisiez Collection.
