MUSKET OF HONOR WITH FLINT AWARDED BY THE FIRST CONSUL TO THE CITIZEN BREVET, horse hunter in the 12th regiment, on 4 pluviôse year XI. Barrel with sides then round punched with the thunder, on the left side of Bouny and Audigné, and on the right side: "12 B" for the year XII, and engraved on the top: "Entse Boutet". Platine model year IX stamped of Bouyssavy, signed: "MANUFRE DE VERSAILLES", hammer with round body, brass bassoon. Silver trimmings punched. Rod and iron rod. Walnut stock without cheek, with reception stamp bearing a silver plate in the form of a shield engraved in a laurel surround: "The 1st Consul - To Cen Brevet - chasr on horseback - of the 12th - regiment". Hallmark 950 and medium guarantee 88 of the department of the lower Seine (1798-1809). Goldsmith's hallmark JM. With bayonet. With the exact copy of its patent, of the middle of the XIXth century, entirely with the pen. B.E. Consulate period. Provenance: -Sale in Angers, GLAIN collection, Musée militaire de la Chabotterie, November 23, 1980, n° 187. This musket is reproduced in the magazine ABC in 1973, pages 18 and 19. Biography : Jean BREVET, brigadier in the 12th regiment of horsemen. He was noticed in a cavalry charge in which he received a rather serious wound which did not prevent him from taking two prisoners. His brilliant conduct in this affair earned him a musket of honor on the 4th of Prairial An XI.
