FORD Thunderbird «Continental» "En 1955, Ford produit la Thunderbird pour concurrencer la Corvette de Chevrolet. Elle s'inscrit immédiatement comme le cabriolet deux places de luxe de la fin des années 50. Dotée d'un moteur V8 puissant, «l'oiseau tonnerre» ravit par ses courbes sixties et son charme indémodable. Le modèle présenté est une version «continental», arborant la roue de secours habillée d'un cerclage chromé, dans le parechoc arrière. Elle est en boîte automatique et possède donc le moteur le plus puissant des deux proposés. Son moteur a subi une restauration complète et le carburateur Edelbrock lui apporte fiabilité, souplesse et consommation réduite. La T-bird est un modèle prisé qui fait la joie de ses propriétaires. "Ford marketed the Thunderbird in 1955 as an answer to Chevrolet’s new Corvette. Our example is a “continental” version with the spare wheel in its chromed compartment attached to the rear bumper. It is powered by the largest of the two V8s, the 312 ci and features the automatic gearbox. The engine was rebuilt and fitted with an Edelbrock carburettor for enhanced reliability, smoothness and increased gas mileage. Both the hard and soft-tops are in excellent shape, important on such a car. Easy to maintain, it is arguably one of the best looking American cars of the 50’s."
