Louis ROCHET (1813-1877) - Lot 129
Louis ROCHET (1813-1877) Bonaparte at Brienne Light patina bronze subject marked on the terrace "Susse Fres Edts Paris" and stamped. On a griotte marble base. Height: 37 cm. History: Produced in bronze by Louis Rochet in 1855, this subject represents Napoleon Bonaparte aged around fifteen in Brienne military school costume. Standing, he holds Plutarch's Life of Illustrious Men in his right hand. His left hand is tucked into the notch of his vest, an attitude that has become characteristic of representations of the Emperor. A large-format version is now on display at Brienne-le-Château.
