Emmanuel FREMIET (1824-1910) Emperor Napoleon I on horseback Gilt bronze subject. Signed on the terrace "E.FREMIET" and "F BARBEDIENNE Mounted on a green marble base. Height: 39 cm. Width: 33 cm. E.M. (Accidents to the base, sword missing). Biography : Emmanuel Fremiet (1824-1910) Nephew and pupil of Rude, he was notably responsible for the equestrian Joan of Arc in the Place des Pyramides, Paris (gilded bronze, 1874), and the Orangutang strangling a man in the Jardin des Plantes (marble, 1895).
