1958 MGA 1500 MKI CABRIOLET - Lot 99
1958 MGA 1500 MKI CABRIOLET No reserve - Engine no. 15GB U H 41278 US Title + 846 A - Restored in 2024 - Dressed in elegant Old English White - Red leather interior The MGA was launched in 1954, at a time when the British firm Morris Garages was experiencing serious difficulties. It was decided to design a new model based on a prototype developed five years earlier for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, under the direction of the brand's chief stylist and engineer. In the space of ten months, MG developed a vehicle with relatively classic styling, but with innovative mechanics: a four-cylinder engine integrated into a body of typical post-war design. In 1955, the MGA was officially launched on the market. Production continued until 1962, with some 101,000 units sold worldwide. However, it was mainly in the USA that the model enjoyed its greatest success. Its affordable price for a vehicle in this class contributed greatly to the MGA's popularity and spread. The model offered for sale is a 1958 MK I 1500, fitted with a 1489 cm3 engine that is true to the original but not matched. Restoration was carried out between 2023 and 2024, and a polyester lightweight fender kit was installed. A stainless steel Trophy exhaust system unleashes the sound of the valiant one-and-a-half-liter engine.
