1967 PEUGEOT 204 STATION WAGON - Lot 78
1967 PEUGEOT 204 STATION WAGON
Without reserve
- French registration
- Serial number 6690278
- Reliability and mechanical simplicity
- Sold without technical inspection
Launched in 1965, the Peugeot 204 marked a turning point for the French brand, combining modernity, versatility and mechanical reliability. Two years later, in 1967, Peugeot enriched its range with the Estate version, a family car that seduced with its balance between functionality and elegance.
This first-generation Peugeot 204 Estate was registered new in Marseille before moving to the Gard in 2001. Acquired by the current owner in 2002, it was then transported to Tuscany, where it was used on a very occasional basis, notably for a magazine photo shoot. Since 2007, it has been exhibited at the Galerie Peugeot. It retains its French papers and original rectangular instrument cluster. The engine number corresponds to the original chassis. The 5-digit odometer reads 21,300km, although the car needs a mechanical overhaul, the bodywork is in exceptional condition, extremely rare for a 204. The underbody and all body components are original and remarkably sound. Around 2012, it underwent a complete renovation in order to be presented at the Peugeot Gallery in San Gimignano. Since then, it has never been exposed to the elements. The four door seals, original parts from the 1960s, have been found and installed: they are in perfect condition, and the bags containing their original references remain inside the car. The exhaust silencer is practically new.
Today, the 1967 Peugeot 204 Estate embodies Peugeot's spirit of innovation and practicality at the time, while retaining a retro charm much appreciated by collectors. As it has seen very little traffic in recent years, a service check should be carried out before driving it.
