Marie-Louise's arrival in France - Lot 215
Marie-Louise's arrival in France CAMBACÉRÈS (Jean-Jacques Régis). Letter signed with 3 autograph lines as Archchancellor of the Empire, addressed to Ferdinand Forest, Secretary General of the Prefecture of Strasbourg. Paris, March 28, 1810. 1/2 p. in-12 square; foxing. "I have read... with interest the details you have given me concerning the visit of Her Majesty the Empress to the city of Strasbourg. Please accept my thanks and the assurances of my continuing affection..." In his own handwriting, Cambacérès added: "I hope that Mr. Shée's successor will speak as he does, and I will make him aware of the interest I take in my former collaborator." Henri Shée de Lignières, in poor health, had given up his position as Prefect of Bas-Rhin in February 1810 to Adrien de Lezay-Marnésia.
