BONAPARTE (Napoleon). Signed "Bonaparte" (secretary), countersigned by Hugues-Bernard Maret as Minister Secretary of State and Claude-Ambroise Régnier as Grand-Judge Minister of Justice. Paris, 29 brumaire an XII [November 21, 1803]. One p. in-plano oblong printed with handwritten additions, on lightly azure laid paper, copper-engraved vignette by Barthélemy Roger depicting an allegory of the Republic, wax seal under paper. The First Consul confirms the appointment of Philippe Mangeard "in the title and status of notary at the residence of Charny, department of Meuse". With apostille indicating registration of this commission in the registers of the Verdun civil court of first instance (Verdun, 30 pluviôse an XII-20 février 1804).
