1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint Speciale - Lot 77
1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint Speciale French registration Chassis n°380585 - In the hands of its current owner for over 30 years - French by birth - Haute Couture by Bertone Judging the Sprint's design to be too heavy, Bertone planned a more aerodynamic version in small production runs, to help the Giulietta gain a few precious kph. The "Sprint Spéciale" series appeared in 1959 and remained in the brand's catalog for 7 years. It was a real stylistic success, with a daring design found nowhere else. Produced in Giulietta (1300) and Giulia (1600) versions, 1,366 examples were built, the 1600 being the rarest and most sought-after, with only 114 models produced. With its bold, streamlined lines designed by Franco Scaglione and a very low air penetration coefficient, its engine enabled it to approach 200 km/h, despite the excess weight resulting from its heavy steel bodywork. This car was delivered new to France and registered in January 1964. This car, whose pencil stroke can only be described in superlatives, has been in the hands of its current owner since 1993. An eminent member of the Alfa Romeo France Club, the car has been maintained by the best specialists, with the aim of providing a high-performance car for all Club outings and events. Our Alfa Romeo is in beautiful condition. The body, treated with dinitrol in 1993, doesn't seem to have suffered from the passage of time, and is finished in Rosso Chiaro, giving a beautiful depth to the body's flowing lines. The beige leather interior boasts a beautiful patina. The engine was overhauled by the AB Racing garage for over 8,000.00 euros in 2021, as witnessed by its conclusive road test. The gearbox was overhauled and the clutch replaced in 2021 for over 4,000.00 euros (invoices to support this). The car benefits from a maintenance history dating back to 1993, a mark of the seriousness and rigor from which it has benefited. It will be available for consultation by any potential buyer interested in purchasing the car, as will the appraisal file. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a prestigious model, with a unique design and remarkable quality of presentation. Note to buyers: the contour needle is seized, and will have to be dismantled for repair, and the handbrake will have to be readjusted. 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint Speciale French registration document Chassis no. 380585 - Owned by its current owner for over 30 years - Original French - A 'Haute Couture' design signed Bertone.
