PETROGRAD STATE PORCELAIN MANUFACTORY (FORMER ST. PETERSBURG IMPERIAL MANUFACTORY). Superb Soviet propaganda ASSET based on a design by Zinaida Viktorovna Kobyletskaya (1881-1957), the rim and bowl bearing the Cyrillic inscription "Long live the 8th Congress of Soviets" in stylized black and burgundy script, embellished with leaves, an acorn and wheat stalks in gold and green, the plate encircled by a burgundy, gold and black band. Work of the Petrograd State Factory, hammer and sickle mark and 1920 date in blue underglaze, painter's initials ZVK in blue underglaze, former imperial mark in green underglaze ground. Diameter: 23.5 cm (small scratches, slight wear to rim).
Reference: a similar plate sold at Christie's on 26/11/2018 under number 349 for 17,500 GBP.
