I'd be much obliged. Yours very truly..." The brothers Alfred and Henry Holmes, English violinists and composers, admired by Louis Spohr, spent some time in France. Hector Berlioz supported them and encouraged Alfred Holmes to take up composition as well. A partner in Maison Pleyel from 1853, then director from 1855, entrepreneur Auguste Wolff was also a pianist and composer.
