In-16, 417 [of which the first 2 blank]-(3d of which the last blank)pp. stapled; spine tarnished, russet marks on cover; volume in brown morocco spine folder in lined slipcase. First edition, one of 320 numbered copies on vellum pur fil Lafuma, the only one on large paper. Enriched with an autograph letter signed by Elsa Triolet to Max Brun: "Dear Sir, there was in fact no Prix Goncourt in 1944, and it was in the summer of 1945 that "LePremier accroc" was awarded for 1944. We like to call it the Prix Goncourt of the Liberation..." (Paris, May 8, 1965, one p.in-folio, envelope preserved). Elsa Triolet was the first woman to win the Prix Goncourt with this book.
