JACOB (Max). LeCornet à dés. Paris, imprimerie Levé, [1917]. In-16, 191-(unblanche)pp. burgundy half-chagrin, ribbed spine, covers and spine preserved; spine faded (modern binding). First edition, printed on author's account. "I have created the genre of caricature in prose poems", wrote Max Jacob to Pablo Picasso on March 16, 1917. On February 6, 1917, he also explained to Jacques Doucet that he had chosen this title for his collection of poems "because of the diversity of their aspects and the hazardous, light-hearted side of the whole". Lecornet à dés was especially popular with young writers such as Louis Aragon, Antonin Artaud, André Malraux and Raymond Radiguet.
