In-12, (2d of which the second blank)-344pp, title printed in red and black, garnet-red morocco, ribbed spine cloisonné with gilt fillets, double gilt fillet framing the boards, filleted edges, gilt inner lace, gilt edges, bordered slipcase (P.L.Martin). Complete in itself, this seventh volume alone of the Mémoires et avantures d'un homme de qualité was long considered, by bibliographer Henry Harisse, to be the original edition of the Histoire du chevalier DesGrieux from Manon Lescaut. Max Brun subsequently demonstrated that this volume was probably backdated (Brun, n°X), and that the true original dated from 1733. Copper-engraved vignette in the text by Matthys Pool.
