Copper-engraved vignettes in the text, including one with the effigy and arms of the Grand Condé by Cornelis Vermeulen after Pierre-Paul Sevin. -Orléans (duchesse d'): Bossuet (Jacques-Bénigne). Funeral Oration of Henriette Anne of England, Duchess of Orleans. Prononcée à Saint Denis le 21.jour d'aoust 1670. ÀParis, chez Sébastien Mabre-Cramoisy, 1670. In-4, parchment bradel. First edition. Copper-engraved vignettes in the text, including one with the coat of arms of Henriette of England. Daughter of the dethroned King Charles I of England and a sister of Louis XIII. The restoration of her brother CharlesII to the English throne led to her marriage to LouisXIV's brother, Duke Philippe d'Orléans. Bossuet's funeral oration remains one of the most famous pieces of French eloquence of the Grand Siècle: "Madame se meurt, Madame est morte" (p.21). -Palatine (princess): Bossuet (Jacques-Bénigne). In-4, black chagrin with silver filets and mourning motifs, silver edges (Honnelaître). First edition. Copper-engraved vignettes in the text, including one on the title with the coat of arms of the Princess Palatine by Sébastien LeClerc. Daughter of the Duc de Nevers et de Rethel, Anne de Gonzague-Clèves was first married to the Duc de Guise, Henri de Lorraine, then, after his death, married Duke Edward of Bavaria, Prince Palatine. For a time, she was superintendent of the household of LouisXIV's wife, Queen Maria Theresa of Austria.
