First edition of these translations of Greek classics by Julien-Jacques Moutonnet de Clairfonds. Copper-engraved illustrations outside and inside the text, mainly after Charles Eisen. Bound with: Musée et Théocrite. Héro et Léandre de Musée et quelques idylles de Théocrite. ÀSestos, et se trouve à Paris, chez LeBoucher, 1774. In-8, some marginal wetness. Without the supplement volume published the same year containing Chansons joyeuses by Charles Collé. Provenance: William Vincens Bouguereau (copper-engraved bookplate).

One volume in-8 (volume 2 only), ornate fawn calf; bindings a little worn, some leaves stained or with marginal wetness (period binding). First illustrated edition of this work originally published in 1767. Out-of-text copper-engraved plates by numerous artists.

In-8, half calf tobacco threadbare; binding a little rubbed, some marginal wetness (period binding). Published the same year as the original. 5 copper-engraved plates after Jacques-Philippe-Joseph de Saint-Quentin. Provenance: William Vincens Bouguereau (copper-engraved bookplate).

ÀLyon, de l'imprimerie d'Aymé Delaroche, 1752. Large in-4, ornate marbled brown basane; worn binding with some spotting (period binding). First edition commissioned by the consuls of Lyon. Copper-engraved vignettes of the city's coat of arms in the text. Copy with the Lyon coat of arms. Provenance: magistrate and collector Louis-Antoine Moutonnat (1754-1834), who was the first curator of the Lyon museum (printed bookplate vignette); then William Vincens Bouguereau (copper-engraved bookplate vignette).
