The Austin Healey 100/4 didn't just shine on the road, it also proved its worth in competition, notably in famous endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It's this versatility that has made the Healey such a sought-after model for collectors the world over.
The model presented here was delivered new to Paris in January 1956 by the dealer "AFIVA". In 2001, it crossed paths with its creator, Gerry Coker, engineer and designer at Austin Healey, who marked this encounter by signing the engine, a unique detail that adds to its historic charm.
Subsequently purchased by an American collector, the car underwent a complete restoration in 2003, documented by photos. On this occasion, it was fitted with the famous Le Mans kit, including technical improvements such as replacement of the carburetors and airbox, modification of the camshaft and intake manifold, and suspension modifications. An openwork hood with leather strap completes the kit, giving this Austin Healey an even sportier look.
Between 2003 and 2009, this model took part in numerous Concours d'Elegance in the USA, where it regularly won first place. In 2012, it underwent a new restoration, before returning to France at the end of 2017, imported by a professional. Acquired by its current owner in 2018, this Austin Healey has undergone careful care and further improvements to ensure reliability and comfort without sacrificing authenticity.
In 2021, a complete overhaul of the engine was carried out, including replacement of the piston rings, bearings, seals and crankshaft. The owner also carried out regular maintenance, including draining the rear axle and gearbox. Modern features such as electronic ignition, a new alcantara soft top and front disc brakes have been added to make driving safer and more enjoyable. It also features a new stainless steel muffler. Maintenance and repairs were carried out by VMS in Ste Maxime (83).
