The Jaguar XK150 cabriolet is part of a line of iconic models that have marked the history of the British brand. The evolution of XK models began in 1948 with the XK120, which at the time of its launch stood out for its elegant lines and impressive performance. Originally conceived as a simple concept car to introduce Jaguar's new XK engine, the XK120 quickly became a production car due to the enthusiasm it aroused. This in-line six-cylinder engine was to become one of Jaguar's greatest mechanical successes, powering not only XKs but many of the brand's cars for decades to come.
The XK120 was followed by the XK140 in 1954, which built on the fundamentals of the previous model, while adding mechanical and aesthetic improvements. However, it was the XK150, launched in 1957, that marked a real milestone in the evolution of the XK range.
Produced until 1961, the Jaguar XK150 offered a broader, more refined design than its predecessors. Available in three body variants - roadster, coupé and cabriolet - it was distinguished by enhanced comfort, improved performance and better visibility thanks to a panoramic windshield. The cabriolet, with its natural elegance and soft top, added further charm to the package, making it a favorite among open-air enthusiasts. This model was also the first to feature disc brakes as standard, a major innovation at the time that significantly improved safety and braking performance.
Under the hood, the XK150 offered a variety of engine options, from 3.4-liter to 3.8-liter, with some models benefiting from higher-performance versions with three carburetors. The "S" model added to this sportiness, enabling the XK150 to rival some of the fastest cars of its day.
The Jaguar XK150 Cabriolet presented here was delivered new to Jaguar's New York dealership in January 1959. It is currently painted in midnight blue with a Camel leather interior. This model has just undergone a major overhaul, with €16,000 worth of recent mechanical bills. The accompanying Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms that this is a "matching numbers" model, although the original configuration differs with a Mist Grey tint, Red interior and black soft top.
This Jaguar XK150 is ready to offer its future owner a driving pleasure combining timeless charm and sporty sensations.
