1976 CITROËN CX2000 SUPER - Lot 11
1976 CITROËN CX2000 SUPER French registration Serial number 10MB7863 Rare color: only one year of production - 3rd hand - Only 96,000 km - Electric windows and Diravi Launched in 1974, the Citroën CX marked a new era for the brand, succeeding the iconic DS. A veritable technological showcase, the CX embodies the French automotive innovation of the 70s, with a futuristic design and avant-garde engineering that still impresses today. Designed by Robert Opron, the Citroën CX stands out for its aerodynamic profile and taut lines. Its name, "CX", refers to the coefficient of drag (C_x), an indicator of aerodynamics, of which the car was a model in its day. This sleek, fluid silhouette reflects Citroën's ambition to offer a car that is both elegant and high-performance on the road. Under the hood, the Citroën CX 2000 is powered by a 2-liter four-cylinder engine, offering a smooth, comfortable ride, true to the brand's reputation. But the CX's real innovation lies in its hydropneumatic suspension system, inherited from the DS, which gives it unrivalled driving comfort and impressive roadholding, whatever the speed or road conditions. The interior of the CX is equally innovative, with a "satellite"-shaped instrument cluster surrounding the single-spoke steering wheel, a curved dashboard, and ergonomics designed with the driver in mind. At the time, this futuristic design, combined with technical innovations such as servo-assisted steering, made the CX a benchmark for comfort and modernity. Renowned for its versatility, the Citroën CX 2000 appealed to families and businessmen alike, embodying the spirit of luxury à la française. A true icon of its time, it remains today a model prized by collectors for its unique design and avant-garde technologies that have left their mark on automotive history. The model we present, a 1976 Citroën CX 2000 SUPER, was purchased new from the Citroën dealership in Le Havre on November 10, 1976. Its first owner kept it until 2011! After that, another enthusiast kept the car for 9 years. Its "centore blue" paintwork is only available on the 1977 model year. This detail makes it a singular vehicle, much sought-after by collectors. It is equipped with Diravi and electric windows. The current owner, who acquired the car in 2020, undertook an extensive overhaul of the vehicle, as evidenced by the file of invoices amounting to 17,745 euros. It should be pointed out, however, that the Contrôle Technique is under review for a play in the steering and non-functioning brake lights. Today, this Citroën CX 2000 combines vintage charm and modern comfort, an emblematic model that revives the savoir-faire of the brand with the double chevron. 1976 CITROËN CX2000 Serial number 10MB7863 Rare colour, model year 1975-1976 - Only three owners - Only 96000 km Launched in 1974, the Citroën CX marked a new era for the brand under the chevrons, succeeding the emblematic DS.
